With this commit, it is now possible to display sample (fake)
data in empty views, in the hope of easing user onboarding.
This can be enabled (in list and kanban views) with attribute
sample="1" on the arch root element. In this case, if there is
no data to display, sample data will be generated based on
heuristics (depending on field types and names). This can be
used in addition to the no content helper.

This commit replaces the "time range menu" in the control panel by a new
component: the "comparison menu".
Its purpose is roughly the same: compare a period of data in a reporting
view with the previous period or the previous year.
Its implementation is a bit simpler: it will only appear if at least one
date filter is selected in the search view, and will suggest to compare
each selected date option with the previous period or the previous year.

PURPOSE
Currently, reporting views such as the bar and line charts have
their x-axis sorted either alphabetically or according to a
sequence. When reporting, the user would be interested in sorting
the x-axis values by their measure.
SPECIFICATIONS
Add 'ascending' and 'descending' options in graph view for bar and
line charts

After this commit, in the graph view, when the user clicks on parts
of the bar and pie charts, it opens the list view of the concerned
records (like what was already done in the pivot view).
This is the default behavior, but it can be deactivated by setting
the attribute 'disable_linking' to true in the view.

Steps to reproduce:
- install recruitment
- go to recruitment > configuration > job positions > duplicate a job
and keep the exact same name as the original > change the department
- add any application to the newly created job position
- go to recruitment > applications > all applications > select the
graph view > group by job
Previous behavior:
you only see one of the two jop positions with the same name
the graph view does not handle multiple labels with the same name
and only keeps the latest values when rendering
Current behavior:
duplicate labels are suffixed to prevent the view from confusing them

Some web actions/controllers/viewsl have been adapted to properly instantiate the
newly refactored control panel and update it accordingly. We needed to adapt the
starting mechanism of actions and controllers to ensure that the control panel
instantiation did not delay the loading of any widget.

A previous commit makes the graph view render only the finer interval
option for each date/datetime field.
The fact is that in the control panel, different options can be selected
in any order along with other groupbys. This can lead to situations like
'Foo > Date: Day > Bar > Date: Month'
and becomes unreadable.
For that reason we choose to regroup and order options. For the previous
situation, this leads to the following global groupby
'Foo > Date: Month > Date: Day > Bar'.
Our choice also make more sense in a list view for instance.

Rendering a graph view with several options selected for a given
date groupby can take too much time and block the page.
Since grouping on the same date/datetime field several times
barely makes sense in a graph view, we choose to use only the finer
option, e.g. 'week' is prefered to 'quarter'.

It has been decided to use Chart.js instead of nvd3 to render charts.
In this commit the graph view has been largely rewritten to benefit
from the options offered by Chart.js.

Before this commit, when the user is in a form view (edit mode) and
click on a stat button, a new action is added to the action stack. When
the user then comes back to the form view by clicking on the breadcrumb,
it is supposed to be in readonly mode. Before this commit, this was not
the case.
This bug comes from the action manager refactoring, which removed the
view manager. With this commit, we add a new action lifecycle method
which is called when the action is restored.
Note that this commit implicitely changes the semantic of actions with
'target=inline'. As far as I can tell, this only applies to the settings
form view, which can easily be fixed by overriding the restore hook.

The graph view was not updated correctly with respect to
time range menu data. We fix that problem in this commit.
|
|
A previous commit [333ac27] has introduced a new widget TimeRangeMenu
that allows to create two sets of data to compare relatively
to a given date or datetime field.
This commit allows the graph view to render appropriately two
sets of data as would be expected in the different modes.

This commit only applies for chart grouped on date or datetime fields.
In that case:
- Line Charts : fill missing groups and doesn't display undefined values.
- Bar Charts : doesn't fill missing groups but display undefined values.
- Pie Charts : doesn't fill missing groups but display undefined values.

In _sanitizeValue we can receive field as a string of the form
fieldName:grouping, if we search for this directly in the fields of the
model we won't find anything.
Hence we should use the fieldName part of it.

|
In the graph view, by default the value false was considered to be a non
set value (which is the case when dealing with M2O fields). But in the
case of boolean fields, we want to display the value false.
|
|
In this commit, we extend the search view to allow the selection
of some intervals for date or datetime fields in groupby menu.
The valid intervals are day, week, month, quarter, and year.
It is also possible to add a button 'Group By' in the control panel
owned by a graph view in case it is declared 'embedded' (e.g. in a
dashboard view).
Note that have three new generic reusable widgets have been introduced
in this commit: DropdownMenu, GroupByMenu, and FiltersMenu.

|
We recently added the possibility of aggregating the graph view on a
many2one field (with count distinct operator). This is useful, but then
a rare situation could happen: the view could be grouped by the same
field.
In that case, there is a name clash in the read_group, and the result
will be that the [id, nameget] of a m2o field will be used as an
aggregate.
The readgroup method should be improved (its API is a mess), but
meanwhile, we have a solution for this issue: if we group by a m2o, then
it is guaranteed that each group has an aggregate value of 1 for the
same field.
|
|
The read_group method was recently modified to allow more flexibility.
With this commit, we add the possibility of aggregating many2one fields.
These fields can be aggregating by counting the number of distinct IDs,
directly in postgres.
Also, note that we had to modify the mock server to implement the
corresponding functionality.

Before this rev., when a graph view was reloaded (e.g. by clicking
on the graph view switcher), the inital groupby was lost if it
didn't come from the searchview (i.e. if it came from the context
or from the arch). For instance, go to Sales > Reporting > Sales
(the view is grouped by 'date', and there are two groups), reload
by clicking on the graph view switcher: there is only one group
left.
The reload RPC was actually fine. What was wrong is the 'state'
object given to the renderer after the reload, as it didn't contain
the correct groupby, so the view wasn't correctly re-rendered.
|
|
Before this rev., keys like pivot_measures, graph_mode..., were
correctly took into account at first load of Pivot or Graph view,
but not at reload.
Those keys are particularily useful when a user saves a research
to its favorites. When such a favorite is selected, the view is
reloaded and the interesting information is in the context.
|
|
A traceback occurred when trying to reload a graph view with no
groupBy in the searchview, because the array of fields to read
given to the read_group RPC didn't contain the default groupBy
field (Error "Fields in 'groupby' must appear in the list of
fields to read"), e.g. in Sales > My Pipeline.
|
|
The groupby property was wrongly set in some cases: if a graph/pivot view is defined as a groupby on field F, but there is another groupby key G in the context, it will take F instead of G (at initial load).
|
|
Keys 'graph_mode', 'graph_measure' and 'graph_groupbys' can be
specified in the context and must be used by the graph view to
determine the default mode, meadure and groupbys. Before this rev.,
those keys were simply ignored.
|
|
A big problem is that the read_group method has a variable API: it
sometimes returns values in a __count key, sometimes in a
[somefield]__count key.
Before this commit, the graph view was not using the correct value in
some cases.

The RPC system was not completely satisfactory, we decided to prepare
the future and do it properly. This commit introduces the new rpc
system, which replace the previous new one. We now simply have a
method, this._rpc, which takes a dictionary of parameters. The idea is
that depending on the parameters, it is able to add correct default
value when necessary.
For situations where we don't have the this._rpc method, we can use the
rpc.query method, which takes the same arguments, but directly calls
ajax.rpc instead of triggering up some events.
|
|
The _rpc method is now the preferred method to do a rpc, so we need to
update all calls.

This commit introduce a full redesign of all JS views. We started
basically from scratch. The goal was to unify all the various views
under a common framework, to make them testable, to make then usable in
different conditions (in studio, or in the frontend), and to make our
lives easier.
Some important points are:
- we introduced new coding guidelines (camelCase, 80 chars width, ...)
- we have a brand new testing framework (still QUnit based)
- kanban view moved to the web addon
- calendar view (formerly web_calender) moved to web as well
- the tree view was removed
- all new code should be documented
We hope that this code is the start of a new era for the Odoo web
client, we want to have a high quality codebase, well documented, well
tested, well designed.
Work done by the framework team: mostly aab, ged, chm, dmo, qsm
