[FIX] mail: improve implementation of message format fix
This is a better implementation of 19fb650863f11172c8a6839fcc10919e9ca9977b. It seems we did not
see the fix was inside a loop meaning not really optimized when thinking about
Inbox fetching a lot of messages.
